Bathroom Before & After: The Before

As far as the befores go on this Before & After, they’re not so bad, right? This Town & Country master bathroom doesn’t have any outrageous colors, terrible metallic finishes, or anything of a horribly offensive nature. It doesn’t necessarily scream, “MAKE ME OVER!,” but does annoyingly whisper in your ear, over and over, “I could be so much better . . .”

Check out the before shots below, then read on for the plans we and the homeowners have for this awesome transformation.

Dated cultured marble, 90s floor tile and a large, but uninspired shower were keeping this huge, light-filled master bathroom from its full potential.

Dated woodwork, cultured marble counters, and wasted vertical space all need to be rectified.

Now that’s a lot of swirly cultured marble. There is a great deal of potential for a ‘WOW’ moment here . . .

So, the homeowner’s vision for this bathroom is “classic, timeless and vintage.” Finishes we’ve selected to achieve this look include beveled subway tile, porcelain tile, quartz, basket weave tile, a freestanding soaker tub, white wainscotting, gorgeous wood vanities and recessed medicine cabinets.

  • This bathroom is huge, but a lot of the space feels wasted. The enormous, cultured marble tub deck takes up a lot of unused real estate and the cultured marble corner shower is begging to become a spa-like sanctuary. For this space, we plan a freestanding tub and a frameless shower with timeless subway and basketweave tile, and a quartz bench.

  • The vanities lack storage and the extra large mirrors are just not necessary. In their place, we plan on symmetrical, rich wood vanities with matching linen cabinets and vintage-esque recessed medicine cabinets.

  • For the flooring, we plan to replace the 90’s ceramic tile, with marble-like porcelain with and a basketweave “tile rug” in the center of the room. Finishing off the classic formality the homeowner envisions, we painting all the moldings white and plan to install a beautiful wainscotting throughout the room.

  • Finally, we are enclosing the toilet in a water closet to add privacy and functionality to this large space.

From start to finish, this remodel will take about six weeks. We will post updates on the blog, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, so follow all of our social media outlets as we post updates on the progress of what we expect to be one of our favorite renovations yet!download full film iBoy 2017
