Thank You, Veterans.

To us Veteran’s Day is kind of like Earth Day . . . everyday should be Veteran’s Day. It’s so vital that we all show gratitude and acknowledge the sacrifice that millions of men and women have made. Today we’d like to use our little corner of the Internet to say thank you to veterans from all branches of the military . . . we honor your bravery, dedication and sacrifice.

In fact, our own company has veterans to thank for our existence. 70 years ago, Joe Callier (the founder of our parent company, Callier & Thompson) served in the Pacific during World War II. Deployed for most of the war, Joe didn’t even meet his firstborn child until the war was over! After he returned from the Pacific, Joe eventually became a carpenter—building cabinets and eventually founded Callier’s Custom Kitchens. A father of three, grandfather of ten, and husband of more than 40 years, Joe passed away 24 years ago, but continues to be an inspiration to us all . . . the true epitome of the “Greatest Generation.”

A little more than 20 years after Joe returned from his tour of duty, Joe’s eldest son, Gary Callier, enlisted in the Army and served two years in Germany (1966-1968). When Gary returned from his own tour, he too became a carpenter—building and installing kitchens and baths until he and his brother, David Callier, took over the family business. Years later, they started Affordable Kitchens & Baths and have continued to run the family business with an honesty, dedication, and integrity that would surely make their dad proud.

So, we can’t say it enough . . . thank you to all veterans. Those near and dear to us, those we do not know, those who are no longer with us, and those who are still active . . . there are not enough words to describe our gratitude.
